A Breed Class is a class confined to one breed. 2. Awards as above qualify a dog for entry at Crufts 2016 only if the class in which the award was gained was not made ‘Special’ in any way, i.e. by age, colour, height, weight, coat, to members of a society, to breeders etc. Wins in sweepstake classes do not qualify, nor do wins in any classes other than those stated above. 3. In any class scheduled at Crufts 2016 for which an age limit appears in the definition the age is calculated to the 10th March 2016. 4. No entries will be accepted “Not for Competition”. 5. Dogs qualifying after 4th January 2016 can only be entered on-line. 6. For a full list of overseas qualifying shows, please go to www.crufts.org.uk COMPETING IN THE UK COMPETING WITH DOCKED OR CROPPED DOGS IN THE UK • DOCKED DOGS Dogs which were docked before 6th April 2007: If your dog was docked either in the UK or in a foreign country before 6th April 2007 then it may compete at Crufts. Dogs which were docked on or after 6th April 2007: If your dog was docked on or after 6th April 2007 it is not, under the law, permitted to be shown at Crufts (where the public are admitted on payment of a fee). • CROPPING No dog with cropped ears is eligible to compete at any Kennel Club licensed event. UK PET TRAVEL SCHEME — Bringing dogs into the UK Crufts exhibitors must ensure that their dogs fully comply with the entry rules for bringing dogs into the UK. In the case of dogs being brought from some countries, this will involve a process which can take a number of months to complete prior to travel to the UK and Crufts. For further details please see www.defra.gov.uk/pets Crufts 2016 11 12 Crufts 2016 DEFINITIONS OF CLASSES (Vide Kennel Club Regulations for Definitions of Classes) a. In the following definitions, a Challenge Certificate includes any Show award that counts towards the title of Champion under the rules of any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club. A CACIB or CAC is taken to be the equivalent to a Challenge Certificate and should be taken into account when entering classes. b. Wins at Championship Shows in breed classes where Challenge Certificates are not on offer shall be counted as wins at Open Shows. c. In estimating the number of awards won, all wins up to and including the seventh day before the date of closing of postal entries shall be counted when entering for any class i.e. Monday, 28th December 2015. Wins in Variety classes do not count for entry in Breed Classes but when entering for Variety classes, wins in both Breed and Variety classes must be counted. A First Prize does not include a Special Prize of whatever value. d. A dog is not eligible for entry in Variety Classes (excluding AVNSC classes) unless also entered and subsequently exhibited in a Breed Class where such a class is provided for which it is eligible, as provided in Kennel Club Definitions of Classes. e. If an exhibitor reports before the judging of a class or classes that a dog has been entered which is ineligible, the exhibitor may choose one of the following options: (1) Withdrawal The dog may be withdrawn from competition subject to the conditions of Regulations F(1) 9(j) and 20. (2) Transfer a) If a dog is ineligible for a class or classes as regards its breed, colour, sex, weight or height the Show Secretary shall transfer it to the equivalent class or classes for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height and, in the event of there being no equivalent class, to the Open class for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height. b) For any reason other than the above, the Show Secretary shall transfer it to the Open Class for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height. If an exhibit arrives late and misses a class, even if it is the only class in which the dog is entered, the dog may not be transferred to any other class. MINOR PUPPY — For dogs of six and not exceeding nine calendar months of age on 10th March 2016. PUPPY — For dogs of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on 10th March 2016. JUNIOR — For dogs of six and not exceeding eighteen calendar months of age on 10th March 2016. YEARLING — For dogs of twelve and not exceeding twenty-four calendar months of age on 10th March 2016. NOVICE — For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or three or more First Prizes at Open and Championship Shows (Minor Puppy, Special Minor Puppy, Puppy and Special Puppy classes excepted, whether restricted or not). UNDERGRADUATE — For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or three or more First Prizes at Championship Shows where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed (Minor Puppy, Special Minor Puppy, Puppy and Special Puppy classes excepted, whether restricted or not). Crufts 2016 13 14 Crufts 2016 GRADUATE — For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or four or more First Prizes at Championship Shows in Graduate, Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit and Open classes, whether restricted or not, at Shows where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed. POST GRADUATE — For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or five or more First Prizes at Championship Shows in Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit and Open classes, whether restricted or not, at Shows where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed. MID LIMIT — For dogs which have not become show Champions under Kennel Club Regulations or under the rules of any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club or won 5 or more First Prizes in all at Championship Shows in Mid Limit, Limit and Open classes, confined to the breed, whether restricted or not, at Shows where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed. LIMIT — For dogs which have not become show Champions under Kennel Club Regulations or under the rules of any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club or won 7 or more First Prizes in all at Championship Shows in Limit and Open classes, confined to the breed, whether restricted or not, at Shows where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed. OPEN — For all dogs of the breed for which the class is provided and eligible for entry at the Show. VETERAN — For dogs of not less than seven years of age on 10th March 2016. FIELD TRIAL — For dogs which have won Awards, Diplomas of Merit or Certificates of Merit in actual competition at a Field Trial held under Kennel Club or Irish Kennel Club Field Trial Regulations. GOOD CITIZEN DOG SCHEME — For dogs which have achieved their Good Citizen Dog Scheme Bronze Award Certificate or above. Certificates should be available at the Show for inspection, if requested. N.B. DOGS ENTERED IN THIS CLASS MUST ALSO QUALIFY FOR ENTRY IN THE USUAL WAY. SPECIAL WORKING TRIAL — With the exception of Bloodhounds, a dog is eligible for entry in the Working Trial Classes for its breed if it has gained a qualification not less than U.D. Excellent under Kennel Club Working Trial Regulations. A Bloodhound is eligible for entry in the Working Trial Classes if it has won a prize at a Working Trial for Bloodhounds held under Kennel Club Working Trial Regulations. SPECIAL OPEN RACING OR LURE COURSING (Greyhounds or Whippets only) — For Kennel Club registered Whippets that have either (a) during the year ending at the closing date for Crufts entries, won a race at a club affiliated to the Whippet Club Racing Association or (b) during the year ending at the closing date for Crufts entries, competed at a recognised Lure Coursing club and achieved a creditable score/level of performance sufficient to demonstrate natural ability; and for Kennel Club registered Greyhounds that must also be registered with the GBGB or the NCC. SPECIAL SHOW BORDER COLLIE HERDING TEST — A Border Collie is eligible for entry in this class if it has passed its Show Border Collie Herding Test. N.B. DOGS ENTERED IN THIS CLASS MUST ALSO QUALIFY FOR ENTRY IN THE USUAL WAY. SPECIAL WORKING GUNDOG — A dog is eligible for entry in Special Working Gundog classes for its Breed if it has a Working Gundog Certificate, a Kennel Club Show Gundog Working Certificate or won an award, Diploma of Merit or Certificate of Merit in competition at a Field Trial held under the rules of any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club. Dogs eligible to enter a YKC Stakes Class at Crufts will be those that have qualified at General and Group Championship Shows scheduled between 5th January 2015 and 4th January 2016 for postal entries and between 5th January 2015 and 18th January 2016 for on-line entries as follows: a. Winner or best placed dog not previously qualified (to third place) in a YKC Stakes Group Class; or b. best placed dog in its Group in a YKC mixed Group Class. 3. Dogs qualified to enter a YKC Stakes Class at Crufts are NOT; a. eligible for entry in a breed class at Crufts unless qualified as per pages 4, 6, 8 and 10 of the Crufts schedule; b. required to be eligible to enter a breed class; c. required to enter a breed class before being eligible to enter a YKC Stakes Class. 4. Dogs declared Best of Breed which have been beaten in the YKC Stakes Class remain eligible to compete in the Group or Best in Show competitions. (In accordance with the 2 year suspension to the Kennel Club Show Regulations which stipulate that only unbeaten dogs are eligible to compete in the Group or Best in Show competitions). 5. The Kennel Club registered owner(s) of dog(s) that have qualified for a YKC Stakes Class at Crufts will be sent an official invitation and entry form to enter. Only entries received on this official entry form or on-line will be accepted. 6. The entry fee for a YKC Stakes Class is £5.00 per dog per class. If your dog does not have an ATC number it cannot be entered for Crufts. ATC applications for Crufts entries must be received at the Kennel Club by 23rd December 2015. We are unable to guarantee issuing an ATC number for any application received after this date. To apply please complete the Form 14 – Application for an Authority To Compete (ATC) number. www.Crufts.org.uk TRAVELLING WITH YOUR DOG Crufts exhibitors must ensure that their dogs fully comply with the entry rules for bringing dogs into the UK. In the case of dogs being brought from some countries, this will involve a process which can take a number of months to complete prior to travel to the UK and Crufts. For further details please see www.defra.gov.uk/take-pet-abroad. If you require a health certificate for your dog to travel back home from Crufts, this cannot be supplied by the volunteer veterinary staff in the Veterinary Centre. However, as a service to exhibitors, Crufts has arranged for a veterinary surgeon from the 608 Veterinary Group to visit Crufts each day to arrange certification for you. This service will be available between 4.00 pm and 5.30 pm each day in the Veterinary Centre and exhibitors will be required to pay veterinary staff at the time of examination - the cost being £45 per certificate. Payment must be in cash as cheques and credit/debit cards cannot be accepted. Appointments can be made at the Veterinary Centre throughout the day. SHOWING AND HANDLING DOGS IN THE UK Those taking part in dog shows in the UK are expected to maintain and abide by the highest standards in accordance with Kennel Club Rules and Regulations (KC Show Regulation F3 refers). It is the exhibitors responsibility to make themselves aware of the Rule and Regulations that appear in the Show Schedule. In particular they should be aware that: No substance which alters the natural colour, texture or body of the coat may be present in the dog’s coat for any purpose at any time during the Show. No substance which alters the natural colour of any external part of the dog may be present on the dog for any purpose at any time during the Show. Any other substance (other than water) which may be used in the preparation of a dog for exhibition must not be allowed to remain in the coat or on any other part of the dog at the time of exhibition (Kennel Club Show Regulation F(B) refers). No act or operation which alters the natural conformation of a dog or any part thereof may be performed except: a) Operations certified to the satisfaction of the General Committee of the Kennel Club; b) The removal of dew claws of any breed; c) Operations to prevent breeding provided that such operations are notified to the Kennel Club before neutered dogs are shown; Nor must anything be done calculated to in the opinion of the General Committee to deceive. The General Committee of the Kennel Club without previous notice, may order an examination of any dog or dogs at any show. Any examination thus ordered will be made by a person having, executive authority who shall have a written directive from the Kennel Club in their possession. Samples may be taken for further examination and analysis. An individual has the right to lodge an objection to a dog only if he/she is the owner or handler of a dog competing in the same breed or class. An objection may, however, be lodged by an official of the Show or by anyone so deputed by the Kennel Club. It will be the responsibility of the individual who lodges the objection or the official (as appropriate) to substantiate the grounds of the objection. The Kennel Club will substantiate the grounds for an objection made on its behalf. RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE EXHIBITION OF DOGS IN THE UK A. (1) Dogs should be present on their benches at all times except: (a) When being judged (b) When being prepared for exhibition and/or being exercised (2) In certain circumstances dogs must be present on their benches at all times if requested by the Show Management. (3) Dogs may be removed from their benches by order of the Veterinary Surgeon, Veterinary Practitioner or Show Management. B. Preparation of exhibits should generally take place on benches or in the area provided by the Show Society. Crufts 2016 23 C. Except when securely benched or caged, all dogs must be on a lead for the duration of the show (including in the exercise area), except when competing in the ring. D. Cages, grooming tables and trolleys are not allowed at the ringside. E. No dog shall be allowed in a judging ring other than actual exhibits in the class being judged. F. Printed awards may not be displayed in the ring except when judging is taking place for Groups and Best in Show. Nothing may be carried, worn or displayed by a handler or a dog in the ring which is capable of indicating the identity of the exhibit, owner or company which might be sponsoring that handler or dog. Nor must anything be said or any action be taken which identifies the exhibit other than by ring number. G. The attracting of the attention of exhibits by any method from outside the ring is prohibited. H. Every exhibitor must ensure that whilst the dog is being exhibited, its handler shall display the correct ring number. HANDLING: Exhibitors must not pick up dogs by their tails and leads when lifting them. This is not acceptable. Exhibitors should note that such practice would constitute harsh handling and reports of such practice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel Club Show Regulations F11. CAGES/CRATES: The use of cages/crates with wire false floors where the dog is not sitting on the base of the cage is not permitted at Crufts. In addition, each exhibitor is responsible for providing their own cage/crate identification. UNATTENDED DOGS: Crufts is a public show and for the safety of all concerned dogs should not be left unattended on the benches or anywhere else at any time. CATEGORY 3 BREEDS AT CRUFTS: The Kennel Club is committed to the health and welfare of dogs and to ensuring that healthy dogs are being exhibited and thereby given awards at shows. The Best of Breed award relevant to a Category 3 breed cannot be confirmed until the dog has passed an examination by the Show’s official veterinary surgeon. If the dog fails to pass the examination it is ineligible to compete in the relevant group. (Kennel Club Show Regulation F(1)27.a. refers). Category 3 breeds are (Regulation F(1)27.a. refers): Basset Hound, Bloodhound, Bulldog, Chow Chow, Dogue de Bordeaux, German Shepherd Dog, Mastiff, Neapolitan Mastiff, Pekingese, Pug, Shar Pei, St. Bernard DOCKED TAILS: If your dog was docked either in the UK or in a foreign country before 6th April 2007 then it may compete at Crufts. If your dog was docked on or after 6th April 2007 it is not, under the law, permitted to be shown at Crufts. CROPPED EARS: No dog with cropped ears is eligible to compete at any Kennel Club licensed event (Kennel Club Show Regulation B19 refers). SHOW STACKERS: The use of show stackers are prohibited at Crufts. DOGS IN VEHICLES: Appropriate action will be taken immediately in the event dogs being left in vehicles and found to be in a distressed condition. It is advised that you arrive at the show between 7.00 am and 8.00 am. After this time the traffic to the show becomes very busy and it is best to arrive early so that you may settle the dog on its bench. Please allow an hour to get from the car park to your bench in the mornings. There are shuttle buses from some of the car parks and the buses also take dogs. However, a walk from the car park provides good exercise for your dog. What do I need to bring with me? Please ensure that you bring: • Your own dog bowl and water - this is essential • Grooming brush • Blanket for the bench • Passes Car Parking Exhibitors can apply for a car park pass on the entry form for which there is a charge of £10 per car or £12 per car if paid on the day. Dog exhibitors are encouraged to park in the South or East Car Parks as first choice (see page 65 for further details) 24 Crufts 2016 Can I get to the NEC on the train with my dog? Yes. Birmingham International Station is situated two minutes from the NEC. Security Please never leave your dog alone on the bench, and also take care of any items of value. Where can I exercise my dog? There are specific exercise areas (filled with wooden chippings) and it is expected that all exhibitors clear up after their dogs in all areas. There are bags available for the removal of waste in all areas of the halls. Are there vets at Crufts if I need assistance? There is a large veterinary team on site for the duration of the show. There is no charge for any emergency treatment. Please also be aware that their role is not to administer any treatment for pre-existing conditions, but every patient is well looked after! Where can I groom my dog? You are able to groom your dog near to the benching area, but please make sure that you do not block any walkways. There are also specific areas signposted for breeds that require extra grooming. Please be sure that you are aware of the Kennel Club Rules and Regulations on grooming of dogs for show purposes, including clearing up any grooming waste. Ring Stewards and additional help The Group stewards can be recognised by their green blazers and steward badges. They are in each hall and they ensure the smooth running of the judging in the rings and are also there to assist exhibitors to find their rings and appropriate benching. They are also there for any emergency situation. When can I leave the show? There is a set time of 4.00 pm which all exhibitors can leave the show. Early removals are only given in exceptional circumstances. What happens if I win Best of Breed? You will be told by the steward to report to the Arena collecting ring by a specific time. The Group stewards can also help you. Once you are in the Arena, you will be told how the Group judging will proceed. You will also have your photograph taken which will appear on the Crufts results website for historical recording. Please ensure that you allow time to get to the Arena and take all your luggage with you. You will be allowed to have one extra person in the collecting ring only. If you have any other guests, they will be able to watch in the Arena free of charge on every day except Sunday. If your dog wins Best of Breed on the Sunday, then two guests will automatically be issued with two Best in Show tickets. Where do I collect winners’ money? Prize money will not be paid at the show - it will automatically be sent to winners within 30 days of the show. What do I do if I have an entry query at the show? If you have any queries or problems during the show, the Dog Exhibitors’ Enquiries Office is situated in the Organiser’s Office in Hall 3 and is there expressly to help you. Please tell us at once if you think something is wrong. We are there to assist and are anxious everyone should have a trouble-free and enjoyable day. CLASS ELIGIBILITY Class definitions are included in the show schedule and exhibitors should make themselves aware for which class their dog is eligible. Champions from a country with which the Kennel Club has a reciprocal agreement are eligible to enter the following classes: • Open Class • Age restricted Classes Junior Champions are not recognised by the Kennel Club and therefore, when entering please do not put 'Ch' before the dog's name. Overseas wins: A CACIB is equivalent to winning a Challenge Certificate in the UK and should be counted as such. A CAC is equivalent to winning a Challenge Certificate in the UK and should be counted as such. Any points won that count towards the title of Champion, under the rules of any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club must be included when deciding class eligibility. For example, under the American Kennel Club system, three, four and five point major wins are equivalent to a Challenge Certificate. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR EXHIBITORS TRAVELLING BY CAR Arrangements for dog exhibitors travelling by car to Crufts 2016 are as follows: DISABLED BADGE HOLDERS Please note: The NEC charges £12.00 per car for parking at its venue - including Disabled Badge Holders. You can apply and pay for a car parking pass on the Crufts entry form at a reduced fee of £10.00, however, it will only be valid when used alongside an official disabled badge on the day. The following procedure will remain unchanged for parking whether a car park pass is paid for in advance or on the day. When you arrive on site at the NEC please follow signage directing you to the disabled badge holder car parks. The NEC has a limited number of spaces available to disabled badge holders adjacent to Hall 5. These spaces are the initial ones to be allocated and are done so on a first come first served basis. Please note that this area is filled very early. Once this area is full, disabled badge holders are then directed to the South Car Parks or the most appropriate area - please follow the NEC signage. A shuttle bus service is provided for disabled visitors from these car parks to the Piazza, where there are dog entrance doors at Hall 1 and Hall 5. At the end of the day a return service will take you back to these car parks. The NEC shuttles have good accessibility but may not be able to accommodate certain cages and trolleys due to their size. EXHIBITORS WHO ARE ACCOMPANIED BY A HELPER Dog exhibitor drop off will be conducted from the car park opposite Hall 5 between 0600 and 0800 hours. Please note that access is strictly between these hours and access after 0800 hours is not permitted. Vehicles with dog exhibitor drop off passes should access the NEC inner area via Gate 1, where they will be directed immediately left into the car parking area opposite hall 5. They should then follow signs taking them along a designated taxi route which runs the length of the car park, alongside the fencing to a holding area opposite VE door 5.7. Vehicles will then be held on the car park and allowed access to their nominated VE door when space is available and it is safe to do so. Access will be monitored by our traffic team. Please note that there will be a drop off time allowed of 10 minutes per vehicle in order to give all exhibitors the opportunity to unload and remove their vehicles to outer car parks before 0800 hours. Vehicles remaining at the dog exhibitor doors over their time limit, will be at risk of being removed by our tow vehicle. Once exhibitors have completed their drop off, they will leave site via Gate 2 and park their vehicle in NEC outer car parks as in previous years. Vehicles should not remain on Hall 5 car park. Should exhibitors wish to unload their vehicle from the designated car park area opposite Hall 5, via VE door 5.7, they can do so from the car park but will still be restricted to the 10 minute drop off time to enable further exhibitors the opportunity to unload. Please ensure passes are clearly displayed on your vehicle AT ALL TIMES, including arrival at Gate 1 so that our staff can allow you through without unnecessary delay. The remainder of the car park opposite Hall 5 will be available for blue badge holders as in previous years.. Exhibitors requiring this facility are asked to complete payment on the entry form. Special passes will be issued on a first come, first served basis and will be despatched with exhibitors passes prior to the show. The charge to use this facility will be £14.00 per day including parking fee. THERE WILL BE NO PICK UP FACILITY. EXHIBITORS WHO ARE NOT ACCOMPANIED BY A HELPER Unaccompanied dog exhibitors and those not wishing to drop off can park in South, East or West car parks. Please note that only a limited number of spaces are available in the West car park and the West car park has only one exit so there may be delays in leaving this car park. Please refer to the location map on Page 65. It should be noted that shuttle buses will be running from the South and East car parks all day. There is, however, no shuttle bus service to and from the West car park. All NEC shuttles will accommodate dogs, however additional coaches bought in to supplement the shuttles may not be able to transport dogs. Car park tickets covering South, East or West car parks can be ordered in advance, price £10.00, on the dog entry form enclosed and will be despatched with the exhibitors passes prior to the show. This pass will enable you to park in any of the three car parking areas (subject to availability). Twist Ring Numbers 25, 26 & 35 Hall 5 COMPETING WITH DOCKED DOGS IN THE UK Dogs which were docked before 6th April 2007: If your dog was docked either in the UK or in a foreign country before 6th April 2007 then it may compete at Crufts. Dogs which were docked on or after 6th April 2007: If your dog was docked on or after 6th April 2007 it is not, under the law, permitted to be shown at Crufts (where the public are admitted on payment of a fee). The BASC Gamekeepers' classes consist of two categories as follows: 1. THE GAMEKEEPER CLASSES are strictly confined to gundog owners who are employed as bona fide head, single-handed, beat or under-keepers, river keepers or stalkers, or those retired (The dog may however be handled by anyone else at the request of the owner). 2. THE WORKING GUNDOG CLASSES are for dogs who have regularly worked in the shooting field, and the owners must provide written confirmation from the keeper/shoot organiser that their dogs have been worked as members of his regular beating/picking up team. HOW TO ENTER PLEASE NOTE: Entries for Gamekeepers' classes cannot be made on-line and therefore must be made on a 'paper' entry form. For each of the GAMEKEEPER/WORKING GUNDOG CLASSES send your completed entry form to Crufts by post to the address on the entry form. This must be accompanied by the relevant signed declaration (this can be found on the reverse of the entry form). For the two TEAM COMPETITIONS: 1. Photocopy the Crufts entry form four times, completely fill in one form per dog and owner clearly indicating which is the reserve dog, staple or pin all four forms together (No other entries on these forms please). 2. Put the team name on each form. 3. Also indicate name and address of the Young Handler accompanying your team (if you are bringing one). 4. The declaration must be completed by the Gamekeeper or shoot organiser where you predominately work your dog and must accompany all individual Gamekeepers' Class entries (this can be found on the reverse of the entry form). 5. Send all of the above to Crufts but please ensure that all the paperwork is properly completed otherwise your entry may become void. A dog may be entered in the Gamekeepers' Classes if it has not won a qualifying prize in a breed class at a Championship Show the previous year, or is not otherwise qualified, that is, if it is not eligible for entry in breed classes. Only the winners of the Gamekeeper Classes (not the Working Gundog Classes) will compete in "Best in Show - Gamekeepers' Ring" for the Northesk Memorial Trophy. It is the responsibility of the handler to report to the collecting ring steward before the advertised start time of their individual class. POSTAL ENTRIES CLOSE ON MONDAY, 4th JANUARY 2016 (PO POSTMARKED) On-line entries close: Monday, 18th January 2016 116 Crufts 2016 KENNEL CLUB® OBEDIENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS The Obedience Championship for Dogs — Friday, 11th March 2016 The Obedience Championship for Bitches — Saturday, 12th March 2016 Judge: Mrs S.E. Henstridge (N.B. Judging will commence at 9.00 am) OBEDIENCE RING HALL 5 The dogs entitled to compete for these Championship Competitions are those who have been awarded a Kennel Club Obedience Certificate between 5th January 2015 and 4th January 2016. Entry Forms are sent direct to the owners of all qualifying dogs with full particulars of the conditions of the Championships. Please note there is an entry charge of £10.00 per dog. The First Prize winner in each Championship will be entitled to be described as Obedience Champion. As all competing dogs must have won at least one Obedience Certificate, the Championship will be the equivalent of two Obedience Certificates. The tests for the Championship are those required for Class “C”, and if the winning dog or bitch has lost more than 15 points out of the 300 the Championship Award must be withheld. The Obedience Championships will be held in accordance with the Obedience Regulations in force at the time of publication of the Schedule. Would all Competitors please note the following Kennel Club regulations: (a) no bitch in season shall be allowed to compete in Obedience Classes; (b) no person shall carry out punitive correction or harsh handling of a dog at any time whilst within the boundaries of the Show; (c) a draw for the running order in Championship Class C will be conducted by the Kennel Club and exhibitors notified accordingly. CLASS C a. For Championship Class C at Championship Shows, dogs must have won out of Novice, Class A and Class B and have won Open Class C on one occasion and have been placed not lower than third on three further occasions, all Open Class C places and wins must have been won under different Judges at Kennel Club licensed shows. b. At Open Shows, and in the Open C Classes held at Championship Shows, open to all dogs. c. At Limited Shows, open to all dogs except Obedience Certificate winners and dogs which have obtained any award that counts towards the title of Obedience Champion or the equivalent thereof under the rules of any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club. Crufts 2016 117 d. The detailed tests will be: (1) Heel Work. The dog shall be required to walk at heel free, and also be tested at fast and slow pace. Griffin The dogs entitled to compete for these Championships are those who have been awarded a Kennel Club Agility Certificate between 5th January 2015 and 4th January 2016. The Kennel Club will write to you to confirm you have qualified with details of how you should enter your dog via the ISS system - please note there will be a charge for entry of £10.00 per dog. The Tests for the Championship are those required for Championship Class, and if the winning dog has not been awarded a clear round in the final round, the Championship Award must be withheld. The Agility Championships will be held in accordance with the Agility Regulations in force at the time of publication of the schedule. Would all competitors please note the following Kennel Club regulations: (a) No bitch in season shall be allowed to compete in Agility Classes; (b) No person shall carry out punitive correction or harsh handling of a dog at any time whilst within the boundaries of the Show; (c) A draw for the running order of the agility and jumping rounds will be conducted by the Kennel Club and competitors notified accordingly. CHAMPIONSHIP CLASSES To consist of two qualifying rounds of Standard Kennel Club Classes, one Agility Class and one Jumping Class and a final round of Agility. i. The Agility Rounds must contain the following elements: A-Ramp, Dog Walk, See Saw, Hurdles, Hoop (Tyre), Long Jump, Pipe Tunnel, Collapsible Tunnel and Weaving Poles, together with any other obstacles as described in Kennel Club Regulations, at the discretion of the judge. ii. The Jumping Round must contain the following elements: Hurdles, Hoop (Tyre), Long Jump, Pipe Tunnel, Collapsible Tunnel and Weaving Poles and must exclude contact obstacles. iii. The Final Agility Round may contain the Table obstacle and must contain all the obstacles described in (i) of this Regulation, together with any other obstacles as described in Kennel Club Regulations, at the discretion of the judge. Points will be awarded for placings in the Agility round and Jumping round. 1st place - 1 point; 2nd placed - 2 points, etc., to the final placed dog, eliminated dogs excepted
The top 50% of the entry up to a maximum of twenty dogs with the lowest accumulated total will be eligible to compete in the Final Round. Elimination in either of the qualifying rounds will exclude the dog from competition in the Final Round. In the event of a tie, the time/faults will be taken into account for both qualifying rounds to determine the placings on the following basis: 1. The dog with the least course faults in both the Agility and Jumping Rounds takes the higher place. 2. In the event that these dogs are still equal, the dog with the fastest combined time takes the higher place. The Rounds will be electronically timed with a manual back up timing. Electronic timing results will take preference. Standard Marking will apply. Competitors are required to submit a copy of their claim form to the Breed Shows Team in the Canine Activities Department, at the Kennel Club, or email a copy to breedshows@thekennelclub.org.uk by Tuesday, 5th January 2016. Once the entries have closed, the Kennel Club will invite the top scoring dog from each British and Irish Vulnerable breed to attend the final held at Crufts. Note: To take part in the competition final the dog need not be qualified for or entered in the main breed competition at Crufts 2016. Crufts 2016 123 124 Crufts 2016 RULES and REGULATIONS 1. The Show will be held under Kennel Club Rules and Show Regulations. 2. Entries: Entry for the Show is restricted to dogs qualified in accordance with details published on pages 4, 6, 8 and 10 of this schedule. All posted entries must be made on or before Monday, 4th January 2016 (PO Postmark). On-line entries can be made up until midnight on Monday, 18th January 2016. If an envelope containing entries bears more than one postmark, the latest date will be considered to be the date of posting. No acknowledgement of entries will be sent but if exhibitors enclose a stamped, addressed postcard, this will be signed and returned. 3. Authority to Compete: All dogs resident outside of the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entry to the show/event can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number will be returned to the exhibitor/competitor. 4. Entry Fees: The entry fee for each dog is £27.00 (inclusive of VAT) for the first entry, subsequent entries with the same dog are free of charge.An exception is made for Gamekeepers Classes, YKC Classes, Obedience Championships andAgility Championships (please refer to entry form). Entry fees must be forwarded with the entry forms. On no account will entries be accepted without fees. Exhibitors are asked to note that cheques sent to cover entry fees must be in order for immediate payment. Those which are not so for any reason whatsoever (including technical irregularities) will not be accepted and the entries therewith will be returned. Entry fees will not be refunded once an entry has been made. 5. Power to Refuse Entry: The Committee reserves the right to refuse any entries. 6. Admission Passes: Exhibitors will receive a free pass for each dog entered. These passes are not transferable and are valid for the day on which the breed is scheduled only. Partners (i.e. two or more owners) entering one dog only will receive one additional free helper’s pass. Any exhibitor entering a single dog which is owned by only one person is now entitled to two free passes. Extra discounted admission tickets may be purchased in advance by filling in the appropriate portion of the entry form. Ring Cards will be available on the benches on arrival at the Show. 7. Lead and Collar: Except when securely benched or caged all dogs must be on a lead for the duration of the Show including in the exercising area, except when competing in the ring in an Obedience class or Agility Test, or taking part in a Demonstration. 8. Arrival of Dogs and Commencement of Judging: Dogs will be admitted to the NEC from 6.30 am on each day of the show. No dog will be admitted after 12.00 noon except under very exceptional and unforeseen circumstances and by special permission of the Show Management. Dogs cannot be admitted to the NEC except on the day of the Show on which they are to be exhibited and must not be left in the Halls overnight. Judging will commence at 9.00 am each day. In the event that it becomes necessary to commence judging at any time other than indicated as above, exhibitors will be notified when the passes are despatched and an announcement will appear in the Dog Press. Please also check website www.crufts.org.uk. 9. Dog Cages: The Committee permits dog cages on the benches. THERE WILL BE NO CAGES PROVIDED FOR TOY BREEDS. Exhibitors who bring cages for their dogs must ensure that they are of an adequate size for the breed and fit the bench size provided for that breed e.g. Airedale Terrier 24", Spaniel (Clumber) 24", Boxer 24", Welsh Corgi (Pembroke) 20", Basset Hound 24" and Poodle (Standard) 28". Only one dog will be permitted in each cage. If cages do not fit on the bench they should be folded and placed under the bench. No cages to block gangways. All other dog cages, with the exception of Toy dog baskets, must be left in the special areas provided near the entrances for exhibits. It is a Kennel Club requirement that exhibitors display the exhibit/bench number on their crate, cage or container at all times. 10. Soft Crates: The Committee permits soft crates on benches only. Exhibitors who bring soft crates for their dogs must ensure that they are of adequate size for the breed, have sufficient ventilation and fit the bench size provided for that breed and can be securely fastened. Only one dog will be permitted per soft crate. If soft crates do not fit on the bench they should be folded and placed under the bench. Soft crates left on the floor are a potential hazard particularly when occupied by large breeds. No soft crates can be placed on the floor with the dog in them. 11. Benching: All breeds will be benched in the catalogue order, and owners’ dogs of the same breed will be benched consecutively, without extra fee. No bench numbers shall be changed from one pen to another and no dog shall be benched on any but its own numbered pen. Under no circumstances may partitions between the pens be moved. 12. Feeding of Dogs: Exhibitors must make their own arrangements for food and water for their exhibits. 13. Sales of Dogs and Acceptance of Dogs for Exhibition: All negotiations for the sale of dogs must be conducted between buyers and sellers. The acceptance of a dog for exhibition shall not be taken to imply that the Committee warrants or guarantees that the dog is in a fit state for exhibition or complies with the Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition and the Committee shall not be liable in any way whatsoever if the dog is subsequently found either to have been unfit for exhibition or not have complied with the said Regulations. 14. Puppies under six calendar months of age on the first day of the Show are not eligible for exhibition. 15. Exclusion of Dogs: If in the opinion of the ShowManagement or Judge any dog is considered not in a fit state for exhibition owing to disease, savage disposition, or any other cause, the dog may be excluded or removed from the Show on the instruction of the Show Management. Once excluded or removed from the Show the dog must not be brought into the Show at any time under any circumstances and the case must be reported immediately to the Show Secretary. Where a dog is thus excluded or ordered to be removed from the Show, the Committee will give the exhibitor every facility to remove it. Exhibits only allowed: No animal other than a dog duly entered for the Show may be brought within the precincts of the Show during its continuance, except any dogs registered to assist the disabled, or dogs required for educational or instructional purposes or by permission of the General Committee of the Kennel Club. 17. Condition of Removal of Dogs: Exhibits may be removed from 4.00 pm onwards each day and this is the earliest time at which any dog can be removed unless by written order of the Veterinary Surgeon, Veterinary Practitioner or of the Show Management and then only in very exceptional and unforeseen circumstances which must be reported to the Kennel Club. Dogs must be removed from their benches not later than half an hour after all judging has been completed which is the time the Show closes. Dogs must not be left in the Halls overnight. 18. Dogs in Vehicles on Hot Days. Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do’s and don’ts travelling to and whilst at KC licensed events. • When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams. • If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all. • The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water available to drink. • Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog. • When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle. • Keep the dog in the shade - take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated. • Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dog’s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog’s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations. Exhibitors/Competitors are reminded that show societies have the right under Kennel Club Regulation to refuse any entry. 19. Not for Competition entries will not be accepted. 20. Judges: Should any Judge be prevented from fulfilling an engagement, the Committee reserves to itself the right of appointing another Judge, subject to the terms of Kennel Club Show Regulations F(1) 21(d) and 24(f). 21. Order of Judging Classes: All Judges are required to judge the classes in each breed in the order in which they are entered in the Judging Book. 22. Payment of Prize Money (see page 29): Prize Money will not be paid at the Show - it will automatically be sent to winners within 30 days of the Show. 23. Absence of Dogs from Benching: No dog may be absent from its bench except for the purpose of being prepared for exhibition, judged, exercised, or by order of a Veterinary Surgeon, Veterinary Practitioner or the Show Management. After being prepared for exhibition the dog must be replaced on its bench. No dog shall be absent from its bench for the purpose of being exercised or prepared for exhibition for longer than thirty minutes. Dogs should not be left unattended on benches at any time. 24. Dog Fouling and Grooming Waste: Any owner, exhibitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog is required to remove immediately any fouling caused by their dog(s) and/or any grooming waste at any Kennel Club Show within the licensed venue and within the environs of that event including car and caravan parks and approaches. A person in charge of a dog which fouls any part of the Show open to the public is liable to a fine of £10.00. 25. Safety of Dogs and Property: The Committee will be most anxious for the care and safety of the dogs brought for exhibition, but it must be distinctly understood by exhibitors and all other persons that the Committee will not be responsible for the loss, detention of, or damage to any dogs or other property, whether arising from accident, or other causes whatsoever, or from any act or omission of itself, its officers, agents, servants or others. 26. Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition: Preparation of exhibits should generally take place on benches or in the area provided by the Show Society. The use of chalk, powders, or any other similar substances is prohibitedwithin the precincts of the Show. See page 132 for regulations for the preparation of dogs for exhibition - F(B). 27. Cooking Stoves: The use of cooking stoves in the precincts of the Show is forbidden. 28. Gangway and Ringside Obstruction: Gangways, entrances and exits must be kept clear. Cages, grooming tables and trolleys are not allowed at the ringside. Any obstructions will be removed by authorised officials. 29. Best in Show: From 1st January 2015, and for a period of two years the Kennel Club Show Regulations which stipulate that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class before exhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogs are eligible to compete in the group or best in show competitions are suspended. The dog declared Best in Show is a dog which has competed and is unbeaten by any other dog exhibited at the same Show. Definition of a Category 3 Breed: A breed from time to time designated by the General Committee as requiring particular monitoring by reason of visible condition(s) which may cause health or welfare concerns. The list of designated Category 3 Breeds is kept under regular review and is published from time to time in the press. a. Shows Judged on the Group System (Definition: Shows judged on the Group System include classes for breeds within more than one Group, as defined in Kennel Club Regulation B(A); and requires a Judge to declare a Best of each Group after which the exhibits so declared will compete for the award of Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show). Crufts 2016 127 (1) Best of Breed Where a breed is separately classified a Best of Breed may be declared but only from those dogs which have received a first prize in a breed class at the show. Where separate classes are provided for each sex of a breed a Best of each Sex must be declared. NOTE: The Best of Breed/Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified award relevant to a Category 3 Breed will not be confirmed until the dog has passed an examination by the General and Group Championship Show Veterinary Surgeon. (2) Best of Group From 1st January 2015, and for a period of two years the Kennel Club Show Regulations which stipulate that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class before exhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogs are eligible to compete in the group or best in show competitions are suspended. Best of Group and subsequent Group placings must be selected from: (a) The Best of Breed winners in each group provided that they are unbeaten winning dogs: (b) The best unbeaten winning dog from the Any Variety Not Separately Classified classes in each group or on each day. NOTE: The dog declared Best of Breed/Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified from a breed designated by the Kennel Club as a Category 3 Breed is not eligible to compete in the Group competition unless it has passed an examination by the Show's Veterinary Surgeon (if the dog fails to pass the examination it is ineligible to compete in the relevant Group). N.B. The winners of Best Any Variety Imported Register are not eligible to compete for Best in Group. (3) Best in Show From 1st January 2015, and for a period of two years the Kennel Club Show Regulations which stipulate that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class before exhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogs are eligible to compete in the group or best in show competitions are suspended. Best in Show must be selected from the Best of Group winners provided they are unbeaten. Reserve Best in Show must be selected from the remaining Group winners following the selection for Best in Show. b. Withdrawal from other Competition Dogs which become eligible for Best of Group and Best in Show may be withdrawn from all other competition other than breed classes and Best of Breed prior to the competition for Best of Group or Best in Show as appropriate in order to remain unbeaten. A dog beaten in competition for Best of Group or Best in Show may subsequently be exhibited in all competition for which it was previously eligible. The dogs declared Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show, however, must not compete in any subsequent competition. Dogs may be withdrawn from Any Variety Classes when judged before Breed Classes. c. Proviso For the purposes of this Regulation, dogs beaten in competition for Stud Dog, Brood Bitch, Progeny, Brace and Team or a Special Award confined to a single breed, will not be considered to be beaten dogs. 30. Best of Groups and Best in Show Competition: Exhibits will not be admitted to Group or Best in Show competition after a period of ten minutes has elapsed since the announcement that exhibits are required for judging, unless they have been unavoidably delayed by previous judging not being completed on time, and then only with the special permission of the Show Management. 31. Best Puppy in Breed: There will be a Best Puppy in Breed to be judged after Best of Breed has been declared. Those dogs eligible to compete will be those of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on 10th March 2016, which have not been beaten by another dog between six and twelve calendar months of age. Any dog between six and twelve months of age declared Best of Breed should automatically be awarded Best Puppy in Breed. 32. Correspondence: All correspondence, enquiries, etc., should be addessed to the Show Manager, Crufts, The Kennel Club, 10 Clarges Street, London W1J 8AB. Tel: 01296 318540. 33. Alterations: No modifications will be made to this Schedule except by permission of the General Committee of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible. 34. Mating of Bitches: The mating of bitches within the precincts of the Show is forbidden. 35. Photography and Video Rights: The Organisers of Crufts would like to bring the show regulation on photography and filming to the attention of exhibitors, trade stands, press and visitors. Show Regulation: The taking of photographs or video footage in the exhibition premises for sale or reward is strictly prohibited except with the written permission of the Organisers. Press accredited photographers are provided with permission to take photographs ONLY for use in newspapers, magazines and internet sites - this is for news purposes only. The Organisers reserve the right at their absolute discretion to confiscate cameras and/or films for infringement of this condition. There is no objection to the general public taking photographs or video film of general views of the Show, provided that these are for private use only. Specific dogs may be photographed only with the approval of the exhibitor. No photography or filming is permitted in breed judging rings whilst judging is actually taking place. However, judges may allow it to happen at the end of classes or after the Challenge Certificate is awarded. Filming and flash photography is allowed from outside the rings at all times unless the operation of the camera is actually affecting exhibits. However, if a powerful flash unit is used or it is clear that exhibits are being affected, a ring steward or the judge is empowered to stop the person concerned. Cinematograph or television equipment may only be used at the Show if a permit has been issued by the Organisers. There are also certain restrictions on the use of cameras for still photography and private video films. Full details of these and filming permits may be obtained from the Press Office, The Kennel Club, Clarges Street, Piccadilly, London W1J 8AB. 36. Please note that Crufts is being filmed and your image may appear on television and in other media. By attending Crufts you consent to being filmed/recorded as part of the Show for security and broadcast in all media (now know or hereinafter invented) without payment. 37. Kennel Club Regulation F(B): All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F Annex B - Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition. 38. Ring Numbers: Every exhibitor shall ensure that whilst the dog is being exhibited, its handler shall display the correct ring number. 39. Exhibitors must not pick up dogs by their tails and leads when lifting them. This is not acceptable. Exhibitors should note that such practice would constitute harsh handling and reports of such practice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel Club Show Regulation F11. 40. The use of show stackers are prohibited at Crufts.

REGULATIONS FOR THE PREPARATION OF DOGS FOR EXHIBITION F(B) 1. These Regulations must be observed when a dog is prepared for exhibition and/or exhibited at any Kennel Club Licensed event. Objections may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under these Show Regulations and/or for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rule A11. (a) A dog found to have been exhibited in breach of these Regulations will automatically be disqualified from exhibition at the show and from any award gained thereat. (b) Unless the exhibitor provides a satisfactory explanation for the dog being exhibited in breach of these Regulations then he/she may be subject to further penalties of either a fine or as listed under Rule A11. 2. (a) No substance which alters the natural colour, texture or body of the coat may be present in the dog’s coat for any purpose at any time during the Show. No substance which alters the natural colour of any external part of the dog may be present on the dog for any purpose at any time during the Show. (b) Any other substance (other than water) which may be used in the preparation of a dog for exhibition must not be allowed to remain in the coat or on any other part of the dog at the time of exhibition. 3. No act or operation which alters the natural conformation of a dog or any part thereof may be performed, except:- (a) Operations certified to the satisfaction of the General Committee. (b) The removal of dew claws of any breed. (c) Operations to prevent breeding provided that such operations are notified to the Kennel Club before neutered dogs are shown. Nor must anything be done calculated to in the opinion of the General Committee, to deceive. 4. The General Committee without previous notice may order an examination of any dog or dogs at any Show. Any examination thus ordered will be made by a person having executive authority who shall have a written directive from the Kennel Club in their possession. Samples may be taken for further examination and analysis. 5. An individual has the right to lodge an objection to a dog only if he/she is the owner or handler of a dog competing in the same breed or class. An objection may, however, be lodged by an official of the Show or by anyone so deputed by the Kennel Club. It will be the responsibility of the individual who lodges the objection or the official (as appropriate) to substantiate the grounds for the objection. The Kennel Club will substantiate the grounds for an objection made on its behalf. 6. Any objection by an individual related to an infringement of these Regulations must be made in writing to the Show Secretary at his/her office before the close of the Show and the individual must produce evidence of identity at the time of lodging the complaint. The attention of exhibitors is drawn to the fact that any advertisement for a coat preparation or shampoo or similar in either Schedule or Catalogue does not imply that the use of such preparation may not contravene Kennel Club Regulations for the preparation of Dogs for the Exhibition - F(B). This also applies to any coat preparation or shampoo or similar on sale at Crufts. The attention of exhibitors is directed to the Declaration they are required to sign on the Entry Form.
